The
Wesley Players was an amateur dramatics group formed out of St
Paul's Methodist Church, Bedford (North Befordshire Circuit).
This included members from St. Paul's, Putnoe Heights
and Newnham Avenue Methodist Churches. Eventually the St. Paul's
Methodist Church and Newnham Avenue Methodist Churches merged
and became Priory Methodist Chuirch, Newnham Avenue, Bedford.
Productions started in 1966 and eventually finished in 1984.
The
players came from a wide variety of occupations and age groups,
all with the same intention, to entertain. The lighting, back
stage and sound people plus the casts all came from the Methodist
congregations. Over a long period of time a wide range of plays
were produced from a wide variety of styles including period,
comedy, relgious and contemporary theatre.
